Heaven’s Cave is a wonderful addition to any Prosser wine tour. Here’s why we think so…
“You don’t rush through life with wine on the table. It makes the food taste better and the celebration more sweet. It brings families, friends and sometimes strangers together, whether for the harvest, the crush, the bottling parties, the wine tasting events, the winemaker dinners, or maybe just that romantic picnic under the cherry tree where promises are made and dreams hatched.”- excerpt from Make the Dash Count website
Heaven’s Cave Winery, and the wine cave at the Castle on Destiny Ridge are testaments to Hope’s belief.
Established: 2006, winery opened.
Winemakers: Hope Moore
AVA: Horse Heaven Hills. Heaven’s Cave sources fruit from the Cold Creek, Destiny Ridge and Alder Ridge Vineyards.
Varietals: Heaven’s Cave has no estate vineyards. The current wine varietals being produced include: Riesling (late harvest and ice wine), Rousanne, Merlot and Barbera.
A Rhone style white blend and two red blends are also available.
Story: Inspired, by loss and a promise to make her life truly meaningful, Hope Moore decided to do something she’d always wanted to do…get involved in the wine business. Work began on starting her own winery. However, this didn’t completely fulfill Hope’s desire to “make it count”. There had to be something more. Then it came to her… Perhaps, the winery could generate revenue for a charity. Heaven’s Cave was born – a winery with a cause.
Hope Moore went on to create not only a winery, but a not-for-profit foundation (Make the Dash Count Foundation). The Foundation’s mission is “to educate and inspire today’s high school students to become tomorrow’s philanthropic leaders through community engagement and hands on grant making”. Heaven’s Cave donates a portion of the profits from wine sales to cover 100% of the operating expenses of the Foundation.
